The Mark on Your Neck   Leave a comment

You have a mark on your neck
in the shape of the lips of
a lover who left you

again and again

On the back of your clothes
are the stains from the flowers
in lilac and violet of the
trees you laid under each day

You pray the mark on your neck
in the shape of the lips of
that lover you gave yourself to

will soon fade away

But tattooed in your mind
are the memories of hours
spent giving yourself to a lover
that just didn’t care

You have a mark on your neck
in the shape of the lips of
a lover who no longer loves

set yourself free
