(12) – Ancient Scattered Remains

As I travel ancient forests
Silence will diminish
My night journey and
It is there in my mind
That one pathway will close
And another will open

The night is cool and silent
Do I question the silence
Or the tightness of strings
Or just watch
As the puppeteer moves
Cold with sweat

Alone on the ancient sea
There is a cool wind
When the ships go down
They are a soul relished
A last breath maybe
In a world seen differently

Walking ancient moorings
Along silent slow rivers
It is my reflection in her
Timeline that I cherish
Yet even as I weather her storm
I am still just an ancient man
On some nights I dream
On other nights I scream

Cooling rivers of ancient summer
Flowing outward to the sea
Places of unassailable privacy
Where even with a joining of hearts
My actions are still irrational
Though my motives are irresistible
I have if nothing else
A belief in my action

(18) – An Interview With Myself

I say your photo the other day, the school photo from Grade 1. Did you enjoy school?

NO.

But you looked so happy!

LIKE EVERYTHING ELSE BACK THEN, WE WERE MADE TO SMILE, OR TOLD TO, NOT MUCH DIFFERENCE REALLY.

Why did you do it then?

I WAS SCARED

But you looked so happy!

LOOKS CAN BE DECEIVING.

Okay. Did you ever think you would end up here – that this would be your life?

AT THAT AGE – I DON’T THINK SO MAN. I HADN’T BEEN TOLD WHAT TO THINK YET.

What do you mean?

EXACTLY WHAT I SAID. WE WERE TOLD TO DO EVERYTHING, OR EVERYTHING TO DO, IN THOSE DAYS. TOLD WHAT TO THINK. NO INDEPENDENT THOUGHT ALLOWED. I THINK I WAS SUPPOSED TO BE A PRIEST.

Wow!

So how long did that go on for?

IT SEEMED FOREVER. EVERYTHING IN MY YOUTH SEEMED TO GO ON FOREVER. ALTHOUGH THE SCHOOL BULLYING I CAN BE MORE EXACT – 10 YEARS 3 MONTHS.

You remember it that clearly?

YEP, SOME THINGS YOU JUST DON’T FORGET.

DO YOU HAVE ANY MORE QUESTIONS?

Why?

WELL I HAVE A GOOD MEMORY, THIS COULD GO ON FOR YEARS.

In that case we might leave it for the moment – take it up another day maybe.

HAVE I TOLD YOU ABOUT THE TIME I TOLD THE CHRISTIAN BROTHER OFF AT BOARDING SCHOOL. YOU KNOW THEY ALWAYS DRUMMED RELIGION AND TRUTH INTO YOU, TOLD YOU HOW TELLING LIES WAS A SIN – SO YOU TELL THEM THE TRUTH AND THEY CALL YOU A LIAR.

Okay then, as I said, we might leave it until another day. Thank you for your time.

NO PROBLEMS.

(4) – Life Line

This is the life train
stopping all stations

Journey time has
yet to be determined

Breakdowns
will be common

Repairs will often take
longer than expected

Other lives may
run this line

Or was that ruin

There will be times
there will be death

This is the life line

All aboard

(1) – Then the Wind Changed

then
the wind changed

then
the wind
changed

then the wind
changed

then
the
wind
changed

then it was over
then all of it was over
then it became
the end

(13) – These Things

I look at sun and moon
find hidden dreams
in twist of touch
in roll of eye
in taste of lips
from body soul
through heart and mind
where only cliches fill
remaining …

That alphabet
from A to Z
that word construct
the deconstruct of wisdoms
we look for these things
these things that will define
these things that will remind
of time and times and
fuck me

These things
these things of which we want
these things of which we speak
these things they are no longer
they are a past
they became a those
those times we shared
those moments we had
those dreams we lived

The final sun and moon
could not be seen with
fingers numb to touch
eyes blind in darkness
lips cracked by salted tears
soul torn heart attacked
the mind gone
in the end the cliches
are neither these or those

or is that here nor there

Fidelities in Grey 2   Leave a comment

Fidelities in Grey

We live our lives coloured by a spectrum of fidelities infinite in number dreaming without ending defining guilt filmed in black and white projected in grey crying for the deep red of bloodied knuckles dripping down translucent hands sucked by pale lips where orange haze as night ends sees morning sky green the colour with envy and the realisation that the blue breeze of lost time and never to be places will only highlight that grey monotonous colour made from the never ending blending of dark white and light black wishing for it to fade into a soul bruising indigo which will add yellow to the healing of heart and where violet is seen as the colour of loss no more no less for sometimes when colours are not clear fidelities will be finite and grey will just be a number squared
