Somewhere Between Virginia and Northgate Joey Got Dumped   Leave a comment

Somewhere between Virginia and Northgate
Joey would be dumped

I didn’t catch his name
But I heard all the things he said to Joey,
Of all that she had done to him.
In his words, it seemed,
he’d had enough

Somewhere between Virginia and Northgate, Joey,
she got dumped; he didn’t want to see her anymore

You left him six months ago and still
you said you had to go back to get your gear
Three times so far and each time
you came home empty handed
When is enough, enough?

Somewhere between Virginia and Northgate, Joey,
she got dumped and the train driver didn’t even know

You may want him as
a friend in your life
but I don’t want you
as a friend in mine
You don’t give me no respect

Somewhere between Virginia and Northgate,
there on the Caboolture line, Joey was dumped

It was the middle of the day
and he didn’t care, who heard
the words he had to share
this was his life, his pain was real
of Joey he could no longer love

Somewhere between Virginia and Northgate, there
on the Caboolture line, an unknown man made a stand
Somewhere between Virginia and Northgate, Joey
would be dumped, by a man who’d had enough
Somewhere between Virginia and Northgate, a man
hit the end button on his phone, Joey was dumped

Psychologist Today   Leave a comment

So the answers were – lower my expectations of other people and things should improve. And yes, she finds that most artistic persons, when writing poetry or prose, no matter if we call it fiction – the writing we do has parts of us, based in fact, within the writing we do. Ouch

The Psychologist   Leave a comment

Off to see the psychologist tomorrow. Maybe she will tell me that the words I write and say are fiction are in actual fact my reality that I have yet to acknowledge.

If We Didn’t Have the Downs   Leave a comment

If we didn’t have the downs
There could never be the ups
If we didn’t have the tears
There would be no chin to cup
There would be no eyes to gaze in
To reassure the one we love
It’s ok my lover for now things are looking up

If we didn’t have the downs
would we ever need the clowns?
Or need to turn a scowl around
to turn a frown upside down
would there ever be a reason
for our heart to skip a beat
if we saw the one we loved dancing in the street

If we didn’t have the downs
It could be, just like this
An agony without the ecstasy
A pain without the bliss
Of a future with no past
Of a mirror with no glass
Or worse – my good looks without my charm

If we didn’t have the downs
how could we climb back?
From the depths of self-despair
from a life where no one cares
to where we are number one
where we wake to hear the bird song
to know the ups and downs of life are what make it all worthwhile

If we didn’t have the downs
what would poets write about?
Or country singers sing about
where would the tears fall?
Where would the rivers run?
If the moon was always clouded
and the sun blazed brightly and was never done

If we didn’t have the downs
how could we compare
what others never have
and some just want to share
Should we, could we, would we
give our self a chance to grow
if in all of it we never ever, ever know

If we have never had the downs
if we have never shared the pain
never gifted what is in our heart
never shared the grief or strain
if we have never had the downs
if we have never had the ups

What would we ever do if grief was dealt to us as trumps?

Wind, Snow and Ice   Leave a comment

The wind is bitterly cold and fierce
The sun has lost its warmth
I’ve rugged myself in woollen clothes
To help protect my ageing joints

It’s coming off the mountain near
That’s covered all in ice and snow
It’s blowing fiercely from the west
Inside I will quickly have to go

The sleet is blowing sideways
The trees are bending to the right
The fireplace is looking good
I hope my matches will easily light

The cattle huddle close together
On a hillside now all dressed in white
I hope the temperature drops no more
So the cattle can survive the night

Morning comes and the water is ice
The hinges are solid frozen shut
The snow is banked 6 foot high
On the door of my old wooden hut

I light the fire to warm my soul
As the sun breaks through the cloud
I look out through the frosted window
To see the ground covered in a shroud

The cattle survived and I wonder how
For trees are split and cracked asunder
But I know the answer truly belongs
In mother natures awesome wonder

Beautiful night

White lights

White buildings

Black sky

Black water

Rolling sound

Life abounds

in the dark

Beauty Has My Heart   Leave a comment

Beauty has a name
yet I dare not say it
Beauty has a look
yet I dare not describe it
Beauty has my heart

Beauty her flaming red hair
And I dare not put it out
Beauty her skin ever white
And I dare not colour it
Beauty has my heart

Beauty the voice so delicate
for I dare not muffle it
Beauty the touch so fine
for I dare not glove it
Beauty has my heart

Beauty with penetrating eyes
I cannot cover them
Beauty the tone of her body
I cannot clothe it
Beauty has my heart

Beauty with my lust within
But I dare not covert it
Beauty the timeless is
But I dare not hope
Beauty has my heart

Beauty has a name
her name I cannot speak
Beauty has a life
her life I cannot share
Beauty has my heart

Beauty will have my soul
although she will never know
Beauty will have my love
and again she will not know
For beauty already has my heart

Beauty has a name
I cannot say it
Beauty has a name
I cannot hear it
Beauty has my heart
